I was reviewing the notes and comments that I received during my Solo Show in Gallery 1313, in January about my paintings and animation that raised awareness for Autism Spectrum Conditions. I am deeply touched by so many kind words of encouragement and support. here are just a few of them…I have to thank everybody for all their kindness and support and above all thank Phil Anderson the director of Gallery 1313 for the opportunity and also for including me as a gallery board member. It feels great to contribute to give back to such a wonderful non-profit artist run center and the arts community in general.
This Exhibition ” Branches of Hope” including paintings and animation, that started January 13, addresses various aspects of Autism Spectrum Condition, will continue until January 31st in Gallery 1313, located in 1313 Queen Street West, Wednesday to Sunday 1-6pm.
Paola Aron -Badin and me, above us is my donated art piece ” Mother Consoling the Child III”(A subject related to my advanced studio research on Autism and Neuroscience which I have created several different paintings for) for Lifeline Syria Auction in OCAD U Nov27.
The Auction was for the purpose of raising funds to bring a Syrian family to Canada. Paola is the Manager of International Relations in OCAD U. The event was very well organized and I got to talk to some very nice and caring people. Below is the bigger size image of my painting.
Here is the feedback I received from Aboriginal Advisor and Mentor in OCAD U, David General about this piece:
“Mahshid “On the Same Boat” is a perfect example of the context, spirit and energy I referred to. The inclusion of seascape, created by reflection on water and the minimal presence of humans, moves this work far beyond your previous works. Keep exploring.”
And here is the Artist Statement that I wrote for this work:
When I just finished this painting, I looked up and saw a guy with bike helmet gave me a thumbs up! for the painting, I wanted to see which painting he prefers, so I quickly went out and asked. This nice guy, Cian Millar, apparently parks his bike everyday behind the window of my studio space, and has been witnessing my progress everyday! I gave him the address of this blog and suggested that we become facebook friends, as I can not let go someone who have witnessed my artistic progress!. I hope he is reading this now, because I could not find him on Facebook, there were others with same name mostly from Ireland, but not him, so Cian Millar, if you read this, please 1- add me to facebook, 2- help me find a name/title for this painting, Thank you! I would appreciate if you continue to witness my progress and give me your opinion!
