Artist Statement(related to Gallery1 Paintings)

I am a passionate painting artist with a previous background in materials science and engineering. My poetic paintings, which reflect my sensitivity and free spirit, exude from the depth of my life experience and spiritual growth. These works are characterized by their expressive and spontaneous quality that is in balance with thoughtfully structured compositions. Therefore, my paintings reveal a layered richness that is a result of my passionate but patient engagement with the act of painting. In these paintings, I want to create a visual harmony by empathic application of natural forms as well as warm and cool colors to inject a sense of resilience, continuity, hope and healing while acknowledging the darkness and inspire contemplation of growth and achievement of inner balance within challenging but ever changing phases of life.

These mostly abstracted paintings that contain minimal suggestions of representational shapes, are evolved from various studies on natural themes while embracing unexpected discoveries and happy accidents through the process. Having gone through this evolution process, these poetic paintings end up revealing a yin and yang aspect, which is reflected in the application of contrasting colors, strong and weak as well as small and large forms. The natural themes that are implied in the works include abstracted landscapes affected by change of season or suggestion of transforming microscopic or macroscopic structure of materials under varied physical conditions that can be metaphors of welcomed and unwelcomed changes in life and suggest possibility of growth in human experience.
