I was reviewing the notes and comments that I received during my Solo Show in Gallery 1313, in January about my paintings and animation that raised awareness for Autism Spectrum Conditions. I am deeply touched by so many kind words of encouragement and support. here are just a few of them…I have to thank everybody for all their kindness and support and above all thank Phil Anderson the director of Gallery 1313 for the opportunity and also for including me as a gallery board member. It feels great to contribute to give back to such a wonderful non-profit artist run center and the arts community in general.
I made this video last weekend…Just coming out of St. Patrick Parade, making art for my class assignment? Appropriating my own portrait photo of Inside out Project of JR in Nuit Blanche? needing Irish Beer? Or Just being silly? or kicking the ass of winter? think whatever you want! whatever it is, the spring is here!
I am an admirer of Paul Cezanne. I had loved his painting of ” The Card Players” so much. Then I got super excited when we had two costumed models at a table as a model of Contemporary painting class, one looking as if he was one of the original card players from old times! and another a contemporary man who was doing some needle craft work and gave the chance to create a painting in the spirit of Cezanne and and also break the stereotyped gender roles. In the painting session following this, we had a third model, a woman, I am still working to complete this last painting. I think this was a unique opportunity and I am very happy about it. In the paining below, I did change the items on the table a bit, for example, I changed the tea thermos to a bottle of wine and added a glass of wine too to revive the spirit and nostalgia of the French Cafe in the post impressionism era!
My paintings” Branches of Hope” as well as some small paintings are on display in Runnymede Library in Toronto, March1-31, 2016
